Welcome, fellow adventurers, to the thrilling world of TiQ! Get ready to witness the awe-inspiring journey of the TiQ founding team as they conquer the realm of electronic health records (EHRs) and bring joy to therapists everywhere. Join us as we unravel the secrets behind TiQ's spellbinding user-friendly EHR magic!
1. The EHR Revolution: From Chaos to Clarity!
In a land where EHRs have been notorious for their unfriendly nature, TiQ emerges as a more user friendly option! Healthcare SaaS solutions have made significant strides in digitizing healthcare processes, but today's EHRs resemble Swiss Army Knives, overwhelming clinicians with their vast array of features. TiQ sets out to change the game, transforming the chaos into a realm of clarity and simplicity.
2. Therapists: The True Heroes of the Tale!
In the heart of the EHR maze, therapists have struggled to navigate multiple disconnected systems in their quest to provide exceptional care. But fear not, for TiQ has heard their pleas and embarked on a mission to create a system tailored specifically for therapists. With therapists as the guiding light, TiQ aims to design tools that bring meaning and purpose to their work, making them feel like true superheroes in their practice.
3. Unleashing Therapist Superpowers TiQ's Principles of Success! TiQ's journey is guided by three core principles that place therapists at the center of their universe
• First, we wanted to make the time spent between them and their clients more valuable, productive and human.
• Second, we wanted to avoid the temptation to build something that was only incrementally better than was available since we understood that clinicians not only had information overload, they had an overwhelming number of tools as well.
• And third, we wanted to imagine, together with therapists, how to present information in a meaningful way.
A. Therapists have faced disappointment and fatigue from technology promises in the past. TiQ acknowledges this and approaches change with humility. We strive to build a tool that demonstrates immediate value and integrates seamlessly into therapists' existing workflows.
By leveraging familiarity and adapting to their needs, TiQ aims to restore therapists' faith in technology.
To combat tech fatigue and the skepticism that comes with it, we decided to build a tool that would prove its worth from day one. Our system was designed to seamlessly fit into therapists' existing workflows, adapting to what they already know. We wanted to make it as familiar as an old friend, while also tackling the important challenges they face in their clinical work.
Now, let's talk calendars. Every therapist knows how to use a calendar, right? It's practically second nature to them. So, we took a cue from their expertise and designed our product interface around the client. We knew they might struggle with a mindset shift, so we incorporated familiar features triggered by the calendar. It's like slipping on a cozy pair of slippers – it just works and keeps their workflow seamless.
As therapists started using our product, they quickly realized that it was finely tuned to their clinical needs. It was intuitive, supporting them every step of the way in delivering top-notch care. And that's exactly what they appreciated.
So, we may not have revolutionized the world of therapy overnight, but we're making strides. We're easing the burden of tech fatigue and skepticism by offering a tool that speaks their language and helps them do what they do best – care for them.
For clinicians to adopt a new technology, it must fit into existing behavior and workflows. If a technology isn't designed in this way, it will only contribute to the tech burden that so many therapists are experiencing. Everyone deserves the respect of feeling like their needs are honored in the design of a product that they use, and therapists are no different.
The year and a half we embedded in our first clinic gave us a strong foundation for understanding, from the beginning, of how and why mental health professionals are constantly pulled in different directions, spending up to half their day on a computer. This means that new technology is fighting for attention from a person who is too overwhelmed to be enthusiastic about using it.
Picture this: therapists have a whole bunch of touch points throughout their day, and one of those is a super cool technology product. This product needs to work perfectly and at the right time to be super valuable and successful. And guess what? Making sure our product has a huge impact on a therapist's day while they take care of their clients is our top priority!
Let me give you an example of how we nailed it.
We ran a clinic and learned a really interesting thing: when a registered intern does some important documentation, a Licensed supervisor needs to give it the official thumbs-up. But here's the catch – sometimes there's a time limit, like 48 hours. Now, managing that whole workflow can be a real pain in the neck. So, we put on our thinking caps and came up with an ingenious solution!
We created an automatic alert that pops up like magic whenever the supervisor forgets to sign the document. No more worries! The alert catches their attention right away, and once they sign the document, it disappears faster than a magician's rabbit. That's it! The alert is all they need to focus on, and everything else is smooth sailing.
Now, we know there are a gazillion ways that AI and tech can revolutionize healthcare, but when it comes to designing clinical tools, we like to put ourselves in the shoes of the clinicians.
We ask ourselves: how can we make their day-to-day lives easier? That's our golden rule!
When we were doing some of our early market research, we realized that like 90% of the population had a smartphone with a data plan. This included folks who probably don't have stable housing. A number of them are under the poverty line. But the one thing that really seems to be connecting everyone is that they do have access to technology now. Again maybe the most vulnerable folks don't, but we're really reaching a point where everyone's able to access tech and get themselves plugged into exactly the type of help they need.
This is why in designing TiQ we made the platform and client portal mobile responsive so it can adapt to the user’s screen size. This way there’s nothing to download, which we found was a barrier as well, all you need is a browser and internet access.
